One of the many forms in which Doctor Who has appeared down the years has been in comic strips. Some have been licensed, many have been unofficial, some funny and some 'serious'. This page brings together a number of examples of these appearances and includes late 1990's strips from the Radio Times featuring the Eighth Doctor (see below).
Above: Part 1 of "Perceptions". The fourth 8th Doctor Comic strip story. Published in the Radio Times, January 1997.
The 'offerings' on these pages are but a small sample of a great many appearances. In fact the good Doctor's career in comic strip form outlasted his original television run by over a decade. The same could be said of his appearances in cartoons.
The sheer breadth of these comic appearances are testament to the enduring nature of the programme and the impact it has had on British popular culture. It is also a sign of the strength of the programmes appeal and so many of the images and worlds that it has brought to us.
The Eighth Doctor comic strip is reproduced on this website with the kind permission of the writer Gary Russell (with our grateful thanks).
We have NO intention whatsoever of reproducing any officially licensed comic strip from Doctor Who Magazine. This magazine is still being published and holds the rights to the modern day Doctor Who comic strip. It would be a blatant infringement of DWM's copyright for an archive of their strip to appear on this site. If anyone would like to see their strip it is strongly suggested that they look for back-issues of the magazine.
Apart from the above proviso we are happy to reproduce virtually any appearance of the good Doctor in comic strip form. We will, of course, make strenuous efforts to contact those who were involved in the creation of these fascinating items. If, however we have failed to contact someone involved with these items we apologise and urge them to contact us - if anyone objects to their work appearing on the pages of this website we will be happy to remove it forthwith.
You will find chronological listings and links to all available cuttings on each page in this section. Use the links above-left to view each page.
